Beloved Annual Festival Returns to Downtown Oakland August 2-3

Oakland, CA – The City of Oakland’s venerable Art + Soul festival – now entering its 14th year showcasing the  best of the East Bay – is heating up with a slew of new activities. Saturday’s Blues & BBQ Blowout with top  pitmasters from all over California competing for cash prizes blends Oakland’s rich Blues heritage with the city’s well-deserved reputation as a food destination. Sunday’s Funk & Latin Dance Party with old school favorites Lakeside, Rose Royce and Dazz Band plus 2014 Grammy® winners Pacific Mambo Orchestra will  have festival-goers dancing in the streets. Turning up the heat even more are a Hot Rod & Vintage Car Show,  return of YAK to the Bay Turf Dance Battle, National Poetry Slam pre

Admission Prices at the Gate:

$10 Adults, $7 Seniors (65+) & Youth (13-17), 12 & under free

Artisan Marketplace 

Scores of local artisans featuring handcrafted works such as fine jewelry, paintings, woodwork, clothing, accessories, toys, home décor, musical instruments and more.

ALL ITEMS offered for sale in the "Artisan" category MUST be your own personal artistic creation.  You must create and produce the art and you must personally be present at the event to sell your art.

Youth Arts Activities

Youth can enjoy hands-on arts activities organized by the East Bay Depot for Creative Reuse and the Museum of Children’s Art. Plus learn science from the instructors at the Chabot Space & Science Center.

What to Bring

Chairs and seating are available at all stages on a first-come, first-serve basis.

For your safety the following items are NOT allowed:

• NO Cans or Glass Bottles

• NO Coolers or Ice Chests

• NO Alcoholic Beverages

• NO Animals with the Exception of Service Animals

Art + Soul is conveniently located in downtown Oakland adjacent to the 12th Street/City Center BART station.

So, no matter where you live in the Bay Area, there is no better (or easier to get to) entertainment option that weekend.
