It was quite an education to be an Election Official for the recent Presidential election on November 8th, 2016. Set up the night before. On Election Day We worked from 6:00am - 9:00pm. The Santa Cruz / Loma Prieta fires are about 25 minutes from my house. We know people that live down that way and pray for them and for their belongings/pets. In the last photo you know things are bad when even the rats are leaving. To compound matters we have had a heatwave with temperatures as high as 100-degress (for three days) and the poor Firefighters also have to wear long pants, long sleeves, jackets, boots and helmets as they fight the fires.
